Hooked's National Free Food Day

Earlier this month, Hooked celebrated a milestone. On average, 25% of the student body at each of our college markets has signed up for the Hooked app. As a token of our appreciation, we partnered with our top restaurants across the country to provide our users with a National Free Food Day.

Some of the most popular restaurant chains nationwide participated in free food events such as Chick-Fil-A, Coldstones, Jersey Mikes, Smoothie King, Papa Johns, and many more. As a result, Hooked was trending in the app store, ranked as a top 20 app, and had hundreds of thousands of college students using the app that day. It was a fun day to say the least - see pictures below

Hooked Captures 25% of the U.C. Berkeley Student Body in Under 8 Weeks.

Over one fourth of the student population at Cal has signed up for the Hooked app within the first two months. 45 Berkeley restaurants including Koja Kitchen, Blondie's, Kips, and more, utilize the Hooked platform to advertise to nearby customers and drive sales during targeted times of the day. Cal has become one of our fastest growing markets in the U.S., and has been referred to as the Best App to Hit Berkeley’s Campus.

Our Story

Three years ago, Tim Rothwell and Brett Berman set out to create a college lifestyle company that brings people together through food and drink experiences. The idea behind Hooked is that by pairing a good deal with the best restaurants nearby will provide users with an app they can always depend on when deciding where to eat, drink, or socialize. Whether the occasion is a celebration, happy hour, study date, or just plain dinner, Hooked has you covered. While pursuing this college lifestyle app, we quickly learned that Hooked serves a greater purpose than just meal decisions. We're building awareness around local restaurants and driving traffic through their doors during desired times of the day. Hooked is building a bridge between restaurants and the local community, and we could not have imagined how well it would be received.

The adoption we’ve experienced thus far has allowed us to continue growing the business nationwide. Today, Hooked is live in roughly 40 markets across the country; and communities everywhere are realizing its unique benefits. Take a look at the video above to learn more about our story.
